The 14 series is the iconic first piece created by Omer Arbel, establishing the foundation for the brand and contributing significantly to its international recognition. Two cast-glass hemispheres converge to form a solid sphere, distinguished by a roughly textured equator. A diamond-drilled passage, precise and seamless, accommodates Bocci's bespoke hardware.
The distinctive quality of light in the 14 series emerged from an unexpected discovery: as the glass cooled, a meniscus formed at the equator, enhancing the effect of the light. Had the hemispheres joined flatly, this unique effect would not have been achieved. This serendipitous finding embraced the inherent imperfections of glass, marking a departure from conventional design and celebrating the charm of the unplanned. Whether showcased singly or in clusters, the 14 series infuses spaces with a unique radiance, reflecting Bocci’s commitment to exploring the beauty of imperfection.
