Aesop & Bocci: An Illuminating Encounter
When Aesop Gansevoort Street—the brand’s first store in New York’s Meatpacking district— opened in 2023, its design incorporated a vaulted ceiling that would serve as an overhead gallery for ephemeral exhibitions of contemporary works. With an otherwise pared-back interior, the space was conceived as a gathering place for the local community, where art—in all its forms—is celebrated for its ability to delight and surprise.
September sees the arrival of the second residency at Aesop Gansevoort Street: an installation by Canadian multidisciplinary design studio, research lab and factory, Bocci. Known for creating distinctive sculptural lighting, Bocci will showcase an abundance of its original 14 pendant lamp for one year in-store. In a playful echo of the Gansevoort Street display, the same lights will also hang in the windows of Aesop Rockefeller Center in New York and Aesop Gastown in Vancouver.
To celebrate this partnership, Bocci has reimagined its 14p light to embody the essence of both brands’ aesthetics. This limited-release, handcrafted object in Aesop’s signature amber takes the form of a portable, candle-like table light. Rechargeable and entirely wireless, the lamp is composed of two uniquely imperfect poured-glass hemispheres; much like each Aesop store, no two lights are the same. This exclusive design will be available for purchase at Aesop Gansevoort Street, Aesop Rockefeller Center, Aesop Gastown, and select stores across the USA and Canada.

Bocci’s collaborative installation will be on show at Aesop Gansevoort Street from September 6, 2024 to August 31, 2025.
