In Good Company

A study in spontaneous composition by Vancouver-based stylist and photographer Carl Ostberg.

Ostberg constructs a table where light is treated as a tactile ingredient, moved as easily as a glass, handled as part of the composition itself.

The 14p set unfolds among glassware and reflections, where objects are arranged less as still life and more as a living collage. The table becomes a site of gathering, stacking, and quiet choreography where nothing feels fixed, only momentarily placed.

14p

Bocci's first and iconic design, the 14 was created by Omer Arbel in 2005. Two cast glass hemispheres are joined to form a single sphere, each one handmade and distinguished by a subtly textured equator. The 14p is the portable, rechargeable version of this icon, freeing the pendant from ceiling and wall entirely. Available in clear, grey, sepia, yellow, and purple glass.

Melt

Melt is the second chapter of Vancouver-based stylist and photographer Carl Ostberg's ongoing exploration of spontaneous composition, built around Bocci's 118p.

The series takes loose reference from the shared processes of melting, bending, and form-making found in both glassmaking and soft ice. Each object is presented in its final sculptural form, placed in dialogue with soft ice compositions that echo the same movement and transformation. Throughout the series, light becomes a connective element, describing the contours of glass while giving shape and texture to the soft ice, drawing unexpected parallels between the two materials.

118p

The 118 series captures the feather-like impressions left behind in the glassblowing process. Illuminated, these marks become more distinct, revealing details shaped by movement and heat. The series is a study in how glass can preserve a form that would otherwise be lost the moment it's made.

About Carl Ostberg

Carl Ostberg is a Vancouver-based photographer, stylist, and floral designer whose work moves fluidly between product, beauty, and large-scale installation. Known for an aesthetic that is both abundant and restrained, he approaches each composition as something between a puzzle and a surrender, arriving with an idea, then adapting to what the arrangement wants to become.
