Glass is poured into a hemispherical mold. As the glass cools, a meniscus shape forms on the open face of the piece. Two of these pieces are joined to form an articulated sphere, with the two voids in the middle yielding a certain optical quality. A cylindrical void passes through both hemispheres and houses a light source.
-
All 14 pendants are 102mm (4”).
-
Yes, each half sphere is hand-poured and drilled thus making it different and unique from the rest. We celebrate this uniqueness at Bocci as this is a sign that yours is truly one of a kind.

28 FAQs
-
An innovative fabrication process that manipulates both the temperature and the direction of air flow into blown glass. The result is a slightly distorted sphere with an interior landscape of satellite shapes, including an opaque milk glass diffuser that houses either a low-voltage xenon or LED lamp.
-
All 28 pendants are handmade and therefore unique, but the general size range is from 140mm-190mm (5.5”- 7.5”).
-
Yes, each pendant is blown individually by artisans in our glass blowing atelier thus making it different and unique from the rest. We celebrate this uniqueness at Bocci as this is a sign that yours is truly one of a kind.
-
No. This piece of silicone is necessary to prevent dust or other objects from entering the pendant and it should remain in place for the life of the fixture.
-
Yes. We have many colours available. Coloured pendants come with a surcharge. Please note there may be slight variations in the colour saturation and tone of the glass.
-
We offer an online colour selection tool. You can also test out Bocci's new beta Configurator with the 28.20 series.
-
We don’t offer a sample kit for 28 series because all the pendants are handmade, and there’s a natural variation in tone and colour with every single pendant. They’re also blown in a gradient style - the pendant colour is more saturated on one side and gradually fades out across the pendant - so this prevents us from sending “chips” as they wouldn’t tell the full story. The online tool we offer is the best way to make a selection, and all the colours are designed to work together. It’s very hard to make a mistake with these, and every pendant will have its own unique character.
-
Yes. Our colour selection tool uses real photographs of physical pendants taken by Bocci photographers in our studio. The pendants shown in the tool are the best possible representation of the general appearance of that particular colour. Please use the "on/off" function to view the glass when both lit and not.
-
Weights are noted on the product specification sheet.
-
All our xenon fixtures are dimmable, and LED fixtures with 3 pendants or more are also dimmable. Please specify type of dimming at time of order.

57 FAQs
-
57 results from a fabrication process whereby air voids of different sizes and configurations are composed within a larger mass of dark grey or white opaline glass. These air pockets are invisible when the piece is unlit, and come alive to reveal an interior universe when 57 is illuminated. By virtue of the method of making, each 57 is completely unique.
-
All 57 pendants are handmade and therefore unique, but the general size range is from 100mm-165mm (4”- 6”).

74 FAQs
76 FAQs
-
A vacuum is introduced to a strata composed of hot white and clear glass with copper mesh between; the vacuum causes the white layer to pull away through the embedded mesh, leaving numerous tendrils of white glass suspended within an interstitial space as it goes.

84 FAQs
-
A white glass moil is captured inside a fine copper mesh basket and then plunged into hot clear glass. Air is blown into the matrix to gently push the white glass through the mesh, creating a delicate pillowed form that is suspended inside the thick outer layer of clear glass. Sometimes the copper mesh basket folds and crinkles, adding specificity to each piece. Undulations in the exterior shape are a natural consequence of the fabrication process and accentuate the gentle white pillowing below.
-
All 84 pendants are handmade and therefore unique but the general size range is from 110mm - 130mm (4.3”- 5”).
-
Yes, each pendant is hand-made thus making it different and unique from the rest. We celebrate this uniqueness at Bocci as this is a sign that yours is literally one of a kind.

-
84V is a flattened version of the original 84. The flattened profile makes it easier to install as a surface light or on one of our stem fixtures. 84V is not recommended for suspension fixtures.
-
84 suspended pendants have a propellor system held in place with three set screws to provide an ultra secure connection between the pendant and the cable. Relamping will require a small screwdriver to loosen these three screws, which will retract the propellor blades and allow the pendant to be removed from the cable. Please watch the 84 re-lamping video here for more information. 84 surface lights, stem and table lamps have threaded hardware that allows you to simply twist the pendant off the base structure to access the lamp.
-
First, dust the pendants to remove excess debris. Then (if necessary), spray glass cleaner on a lint free cloth and polish the exterior of the pendant. It is best to avoid any liquid getting on the coaxial cable as it is a braided metal and can corrode over time.

84 is compatible with coaxial cable suspension, surface light, table light and stem hardware.
87 FAQs
-
Soda water is used to trap air in a super heated glass matrix, which is vertically stretched and folded back onto itself between pegs numerous times. As the glass cools, the folding motion along the grain of the loop turns the entrapped air into microfilaments that give the piece a pearlescent optical quality. A low-voltage xenon or LED light source is introduced at one end of the loop casting light through the microfilaments and registering a gentle gradient.
-
87 pendants vary greatly in size, they can be anywhere from 300 - 500mm in length and 115 - 240mm in width.
-
Our production team will include a variety of sizes with every 87 series order as per the intended design aesthetic.
-
87 is pure pulled glass. The pearlescent finish is achieved through the addition of carbonated water to hot glass, which is then stretched and folded back on itself.
-
No, 87 pendants come in clear glass only in the size range specified above.
-
Only one: our braided nickel coaxial cable.
-
Every 87 pendant rests on a cylindrical lamp holder with a cable attached to either end. One is a braided steel coaxial cable terminating in a G4 socket that houses the lamp, the other is a slim steel suspension cable that provides balance and allows for sculptural installations if desired.
-
It can be installed in two main ways: (1) all the pendants hang straight down from the canopy, or (2) the pendants are suspended between the canopy and the surrounding ceiling area in a "V" shape. This second type of installation requires ceiling anchor kits and a design drawing. Note it is essential that the two cables (coaxial and suspension) are set to the same length for the pendant to sit properly on the cylindrical lamp holder.
-
87 cluster fixtures come with a canopy that has all the connections clustered in the centre. This allows you to create a dense but slim vertical glass installation that is particularly well suited for accent corners or large stairwell voids.
-
All standard 87 fixture weights are listed on the product specification sheet linked here.
-
Bocci strongly recommends remote mounted power supplies, especially for larger or hard to reach installations. All power supplies have a finite lifespan and remote mounting makes it easier to service them in the future. 87 series fixtures that will use anchor kits to suspend the pendants between the canopy and the surrounding ceiling area require 3/4" marine grade plywood backing throughout the entire installation area.
-
First, use a duster or other dry cleaning method to remove excess debris. If further cleaning is required, spray glass cleaner on a lint free cloth and polish the exterior of the pendant. It is best to avoid any liquid getting on the coaxial cable as it is a braided metal and can corrode over time.
-
Yes, they can be used as surface lights. 87 surface lights come with the same cylindrical lamp holder that is attached to a surface mounted backplate. The end cap may be specified in either white or brass.

Tree FAQs
-
A bead blasted steel armature system connects the glass pieces to a series of branches and stems. Each armature segment carries low-voltage electricity and diverges into 2-4 separate branches, allowing an infinite variety of possible forms.
-
Trees are available with 16 and 73 series.
-
All trees are rated for outdoor (or indoor) use based on structural analysis for moderately sheltered locations near seawater with minimal snow loads. Any other application restraints may need further engineering.
-
Stainless steel installed outdoors are subject to change and naturally mature and patina over time due to prolonged exposure to sunlight, pollutants and other environmental conditions. Bocci recommends that all armature installed in an outdoor setting be coated on site with a protective oil or paint finish to provide a barrier between the steel parts and any environmental elements that can cause surface corroding. The choice of an oil or paint finish will depend on the desired aesthetic and the severity of the environment and its effect on metal finishes. This coating will need to be maintained over the lifetime of the installation to protect against the natural corrosion of metal. Please see the Tree specifications here for further information on environmental weathering.
-
The trees are available with 1.5W LED lamps.
